Course Description
Insomnia is one of the most common sleep difficulties and is often maintained by a combination of cognitive, behavioural, and physiological factors. These include worry about sleep, irregular sleep routines, and behaviours that inadvertently worsen sleep quality over time.
This 2-hour online training introduces participants to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for insomnia, an evidence-based approach considered the first-line psychological treatment for chronic sleep difficulties.
The session will cover key components of CBT for insomnia, including:
• Understanding the cognitive-behavioural model of insomnia
• Identifying dysfunctional beliefs and worries about sleep
• Sleep hygiene principles and behavioural strategies
• Stimulus control and sleep restriction techniques
• Managing hyperarousal and relaxation strategies
• Developing long-term relapse prevention and sleep maintenance plans
Participants will gain practical, structured CBT tools to support individuals in improving sleep quality, establishing healthier sleep routines, and reducing sleep-related anxiety.
This workshop is designed for mental health professionals, psychology students, and individuals interested in evidence-based interventions for sleep difficulties.
