Course Description
Hoarding disorder is characterized by persistent difficulty discarding possessions, regardless of their actual value, leading to distress and significant clutter that interferes with daily living. It is often accompanied by indecisiveness, perfectionism, and emotional attachment to objects.
This two-hour online training introduces participants to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches for understanding and treating hoarding behaviours.
The session will cover key components of CBT for hoarding, including:
- Identifying and modifying maladaptive beliefs about possessions
- Enhancing decision-making and organizational skills
- Using graded exposure to reduce avoidance and anxiety linked to discarding
- Promoting motivation for change and relapse-prevention strategies
Participants will learn practical CBT tools and structured techniques to support clients in overcoming clutter-related difficulties, improving functionality, and achieving sustainable change.
This workshop is designed for mental health professionals, psychology students, and individuals interested in evidence-based interventions for anxiety-related and obsessive-compulsive spectrum conditions.
