Course Description
Emotional dysregulation is characterized by heightened emotional sensitivity, intense emotional reactions, and difficulty returning to baseline. Individuals may struggle with impulsivity, interpersonal difficulties, and ineffective coping strategies that maintain emotional distress over time.
This two-hour online training introduces participants to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches for emotional dysregulation, with an introduction to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills.
The session will cover key components of CBT for emotional dysregulation, including:
• Understanding the cognitive-behavioural model of emotional dysregulation
• Identifying emotional triggers and patterns of response
• Recognizing and modifying emotion-related cognitive distortions
• Developing emotional awareness and regulation strategies
• Introducing core DBT skills (mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness)
• Building adaptive coping strategies and relapse-prevention techniques
Participants will gain practical CBT tools and foundational DBT-informed skills to support individuals in managing intense emotions, improving interpersonal functioning, and enhancing overall emotional stability.
This workshop is designed for mental health professionals, psychology students, and individuals interested in evidence-based interventions for emotional dysregulation.
